Bahamas: the short answers.
Can I take card payments in the Bahamas?+
Yes, through JB Pay. You don’t need a merchant account or a Stripe account: JB Pay collects your guests’ card payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and wires your payout every fortnight.
What do I need to apply?+
You apply once, in the app. You’ll need your business’s legal name, address and registration number, a copy of your business registration or licence, the owners’ names and the main owner’s ID or passport, and the bank details for your business account (account number, bank name and SWIFT code). You confirm that you hold the licences and insurance your trips need and sign the JB Pay agreement online. Before your first payout we also need a US tax form (W-8BEN-E for a business outside the US), filled in online in the same place. JB Pay switches on once we approve you.
When is a booking paid out?+
Bookings are paid out by trip date, twice a month (trips from the 1st to the 15th, and from the 16th to the end of the month). Once a period’s last trip has run, we aim to wire it within five business days, in US dollars, to your business’s bank account, with a report listing every booking and fee. A booking made in March for a trip on 10 June is paid in the wire for 1–15 June, in the second half of June.
What currency will I be paid in?+
US dollars. JB Pay pays out in USD only, to a bank account in your business’s name.
Are there any fees on the payout?+
A flat $25 bank fee per wire. You set your minimum payout; we recommend $300 so the fee stays small. Anything below it rolls into the next payout.
Who handles chargebacks?+
We contest each chargeback for you with the booking details and keep you informed. As the seller, you bear a chargeback that is lost: the amount and the card processor’s dispute fee come out of your next payout, and if we win it back, both are returned in the payout after.
What does it cost?+
No monthly fee. 4% per card payment plus card processing; nothing on cash, card-machine, agency or room payments.
Do you collect or file taxes for me?+
No. You set your prices including or excluding local taxes and stay responsible for declaring them. Reports export to Excel or CSV for your accountant.
Can I sell on GetYourGuide and Viator too?+
Not yet: the GetYourGuide and Viator connections are coming soon. Keep selling there as you do today; once they’re connected, every channel sells from the same availability, so nothing is double-booked.
Do you work with other operators in the Bahamas?+
Yes. Junglebee was founded in St. Maarten and works with operators across the Caribbean.
